Before you write
A few things we cannot help with, because we do not have the data:
- Title, accident, theft, odometer or ownership history for a vehicle.
- Whether a recall has been repaired on your particular vehicle. NHTSA's own VIN lookup holds those records.
- Getting a recall repaired. That is done by a dealer for the vehicle's brand.
Reporting a wrong result
If a decode looks wrong, include the VIN and what you expected to see. Specifications come from NHTSA's vPIC catalogue, so some gaps are at the source; the why a VIN won't decode guide covers the common ones. How we handle corrections is in our editorial standards.
